Show products instead of posts above masthead Ethos 1

I have Ethos 1 and like the ability to display posts above the masthead, but I need it to display products. How do I change the selection to be not just “Random, Most Commented or Featured” and include Products?

I have tried making a product featured, but it does not show - it actually breaks the entire site if I have a featured product and select Featured from Options>Ethos>Post Carousel>Display.

I also have set up a carousel slider using Slider Revolution that almost works, but you can only click on the center image.

Hello Greg,

Thanks for writing in! Please understand that the post carousel will only display posts. Even if you have added a featured product, it will not display in the carousel. If you select “Featured” and you do not have a featured post, the carousel will give an error which is why it is broken.

I would highly suggest that you use the Revolution Slider Carousel instead to display your products and assign the slider above your masthead.

No offence, but it does not help.

I assumed that because a product is technically a post, there is a work around to show products. (And it breaks the entire site - nothing shows anywhere - no body, no images, NOTHING - if you select “Featured” and there are no featured posts.)

As I stated in the original post, I have set up a Revolution Slider Carousel but it doesn’t really work for this as the only image with a working link is the center one. This would confuse and frustrate the visitors.

Does anyone know how to change the type of post shown above the masthead to Product?

I figured out how to make the links on all of the images work on the slider, (even though I seem to lose the navigation…) so this can be closed. It would still be nice improvement to be able to select “product” or other post types to display above the masthead…

Yes. We definitely need more options outside of the three present. I would love to choose from a blog category. Or show the most recent blog post in chronological order. I’m stuck now because I bought this theme under the impression that was possible. Now I don’t know what to do outside of building a new home page layout.

Thank you for the feedback. As my colleague mentioned we added this as the Feature Request.

At the time being we can do nothing else and the Revolution Slider solution is the correct approach that you took.
