Shortcodes not Outputting in Header Builder

hi there,

We’ve been using Toolsets plugin and Pro Theme together for many years without any trouble using the Toolset shortcodes or using the dynamic content shortcodes in Cornerstone to output Toolset data, but when adding a short code to content in the header it is not outputting on the frontend (It displays in cornerstone though). Url in the secure link.

Hi @lifehouseglobal,

Thanks for reaching out.
I would suggest you add the same shortcode in a Text element and check if that is working or not. I would also suggest you check by activating any default theme, adding the shortcode to any page, and checking if it is working or not; if not, please contact the Plugin Author on this.
If you find this issue only exists with our theme, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

hi there, thanks for your response. I believe this is an issue not with the plugin, but with something inside the header. The short codes are used throughout the site on pages & cornerstone componenets without issue. I have tried adding the shortcode in a text field in the header builder and in raw content element and still does not display.

I just updated all plugins, Wordpress and Pro Theme to the latest versions and no change - I will put the staging site credentials in the secure note.

Look forward to your response.

Hi @lifehouseglobal,

I have checked your website and found the problem, and also created a testing shortcode in my local environment and found it is working inside the header too. I have also tried adding the shortcode into a widget and used that in the Header. It seems that the problem might be with the Plugin, to be sure I would suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

1.Theme Related Issue
2.Plugin Conflict
3.Theme Update related issue
4.Child Theme Related issue
5.CSS/JS Customization
6.Disabling Cache
7.Disabling CDN

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If that does not help, please copy your live site to a staging server so we can troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access in the secure note including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

NOTE: Please check by activating the Parent Theme, there might be some issues with that too.

Thanks

Hi there, thank you for you reply.

  1. When you tested it yourself and found the problem as you mentioned, did the shortcodes render in cornerstone, but not the front end? please let me know your result

  2. I have tested further, disabling Toolset plugin and just using Pro Theme dynamic content shortcodes and have found some of them output, but others do not (the same way as the Toolset plugin’s ones).

Steps I took: disabled toolset plugin, put {{dc:global:site_title}}, {{dc:post:title}}, {{dc:post:post_type}} into a text box in the header, within cornerstone it would populate all the dynamic shortcodes, however on the front end only “{{dc:global:site_title}}” populates on the front end.

So it seems many shortcodes aren’t displaying in the header on the front end. I would appreciate further support on this.

Please see the staging credentials I sent you earlier

Hi @lifehouseglobal,

I have checked it by activating the parent theme temporarily and found the shortcode is working. It seems the problem is in your child theme. Please remember that we don’t offer any investigation or support on custom code.

Thanks

hi there, I have activated the parent theme and have the same results with the Pro theme dynamic shortcodes not populating in the header. Please see the staging site as it has the parent theme currently active.

Hi @lifehouseglobal,

I had checked it before by deactivating the parent theme and it was working, but now it is not. I have tried to deactivate the plugin, but most of them are activated through the network. I would suggest you deactivate the plugin and check if that helps.

Thanks
