Shop layout won't open in Cornerstone

My shop layout won’t edit in Cornerstone: https://share.cleanshot.com/cVcJhn2j

The layout isn’t registered within the Cornerstone editor, but it is functioning fine on the live site.

Is there some way to recover this?

Bill.

Hi Bill,

Sometimes the only screenshot doesn’t help us recognize the issue you are having. I would like to request that you create a new thread to share the credentials in the secure note to investigate your issue further, including:

We discovered that in Assign a different page as your shop page under ** **WooCommerce > Settings > Products > General > Shop pages > Select – Shop page

If you assign a different page as the Shop - then you can edit the Shop layout. Make another layout ‘test’ and assign that as the Shop, then the Shop page (in Pages) can be edited.

Hello Bill,

You are editing the shop page incorrectly. If you are using the Pro theme, you should create a WooCommerce Archive layout and then assign it as your Shop layout.

Assigning a normal page as your shop page allows you to use the page slug and other page meta for your shop page index. The layout should be edited with the WooCommerce Archive layout.

Best Regards.

ok I did as you say - the layout is now assigned and working. But I get a “page not found” error in the tab bar of the browser.

Hi Bill,

The page not found is showing because there is no shop page set in the WooCommerce > Settings > Products as shown in the given screenshot.

I have created a test shop page and set it up temporarily, and it is working.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Yes I know and if I do that it conflicts with the assignment in Pro. Rue described above and elsewhere in the Forum that using the assigned in Pro is the correct thing to do. I can’t assign a Pro layout in that dropdown.

If you setup a Woo Archive Layout for the Shop - and assign it to the Shop in Pro. What should be put in that box?

Hi Bill,

The WooCommerce Archive layout can be used for the shop if the shop page is already set. That means you need to set the shop page inorder to asign the layout.

Thanks

I followed the advice of rue above, as I couldn’t edit the layout when a Shop page is assigned. Ar you saying I should create a fake shop page, assign that in WooCommerce, but also assign the Woo Layout in pro? How can I set a shop page in Woo, when I’m using a Pro layout?

Hi Bill,

Please remember that the layout will be assigned to the page, which is set as a Shop page of WooCommerce. You need to set a page as a Shop page from WooCommerce > Settings > Products as shown in the screenshot in my previous reply. Now, when you assign a layout to the Shop page, it will be automatically shown.
You can create any test page and assign it as a Shop page, as I have assigned a Test Shop page to it.

Thanks

I did this: https://share.cleanshot.com/ZqFX4dCJ
And I get this: https://share.cleanshot.com/kB0B8Gpp

Hi Bill,

If you set Test Shop as your shop page, then your shop page URL should be test-shop. You can check the Visit Store link at the Dashboard as shown in the given screenshot. If you want the shop URL, you need to create a page named shop and set it as a shop page through the WooCommerce > Settings.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

OK, for the sake of historians and visitors from the future here’s the correct way to setup your Woo shop using Pro / Cornerstone.

  1. Make an empty page called Shop with the slug shop
  2. Visit WooCommerce -> Settings -> Products and set this page as your Shop page
  3. Open Pro / Cornerstone
  4. Create a Woo Archive Layout (not a single Archive)
  5. Make your custom layout
  6. In the layout settings assign it to Shop

The Pro layout will take precedence over the blank Shop page.

Confusing but it works.

@tristup : Is the above correct? Thanks for the help, but all this should be in the ThemeCo docs, and isn’t.

Hi Bill,

The mentioned steps are the correct way to assign a page as a shop page to the WooCommerce and assign a WooCommerce Archive layout.

Thanks
