Share pages through email with button

Hello,

I’m trying to do a social share through email by using a button. The page is another page of my website.

More specifically, I have a thank you page for a webinar and I want the reader to ‘Invite friends’ to the webinar (hosted on another page).

I want the button ‘Invite friends’ to open a email box with automatic text inside such as : 'Hey! I thought you’d like to join this free webinar (+ HTML of the webinar sign up page).

I tried to use social shares, but that’s not exactly what I want, as they are small icons and link out only to the current page.

Can you help me achieve this?
Thank yoU!

Hi There,

Could you please provide us with the link of that page so we can take a closer look?

Thanks.

I’d like the button on this page http://aimetamarque.com/merci to open a email box (or even a social share link) but to refer to this page http://aimetamarque.com/webinar-redaction/

Another option would be to use the social sharing shortchode, but that the linked page leads to …/webinar-redaction/ and not the current page. Would that be doable? Because that would be a lot easier. Thank you!

Hi There,

It is a bit confusing what you want to achieve.

If you want to link the button to a mail box, you need to link the HREF to : mailto:yourname@gmail.com

Please clarify what else you want to achieve.

Thank you

Ok I’m starting over. Sorry for the confusion.

My social sharing items (added through the social sharing shortcode) now link out to this page http://aimetamarque.com/merci but I want them to link out to this page http://aimetamarque.com/webinar-redaction/ because I don’t want people to share my ‘Thank you’ page with their social circles.

Can we change the share link on the social sharing items?

Hi there,

If you are going to link the icons to one URL you can simply use the Icon element using a shortcode and wrap it in a link like this:

<a href="mailto:test@domain.com">
    [x_icon type="facebook"]
</a>

You can place the code in a Text or Raw Content element.

I’m not sure I understand. I want to use the same function as the Social Share shortcode (which opens a social sharing window with the link to my page). However, the link to the page needs to be different from the host page where the Social Sharing shortcode is located.

Ex. Social sharing shortcode says: Share this with your friends. They click on the Facebook or Twitter button and the message is ‘Hey, I thought you’d enjoy this’ and the page link goes to another page on the website…

I really don’t know how to explain this better…

Hi there,

Thank you for explaining further.

Unfortunately, what you are trying to do is not offered out of the box since the social sharing feature would share the page that is currently opened. This is possible through custom development but unfortunately, that goes beyond the scope of our support.As such, you will need to investigate this particular issue on your own or seek help from a developer should you not feel comfortable making these changes yourself. We do have an in-house custom development team that offer paid services, who may be able to assist. They can be contacted at pinnacle@theme.co if this is of interest to you. If you have any further questions about the theme, we are more than happy to provide you with assistance on these inquiries.

Thank you for your understanding.
