SEO - YOAST - Meta Description template for X / Pro

Hi there,

I’m using the pro theme on my site. Thing is, I’m trying to mass add meta descriptions but most of them seem empty.

Is there an easy way for Yoast to understand cornerstone content? I just want it to either populate it by a template or just to add something to all pages manually.

Could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Hello @Pbalazs89,

Hi there,

Thanks for the tip.
Here’s what I did:

  1. Added the code snippet to functions.php in my child theme.
  2. Went to yoast settings, and added the %%excerpt%% variable to the meta description section.
  3. Performed a new crawl on the site to see if meta descriptions are populated now with page content.

It did not work. Any idea what I did wrong in these steps? Lot of pages so I would like to avoid going through them one by one. Or am I wrong in assuming that there’s a way to automate this? As the last post by Rad suggested that I think.

Thanks!

Hello @Pbalazs89,

If you have used Pro Editor in creating the pages and posts, you will need to edit each of the pages/posts and insert manual excerpts because Yoast SEO might not detect the contents of the page/post. Manual Excerpts are optional hand-crafted summaries of your content that can be used with Yoast SEO plugin. Learn more about manual excerpts.

Please let us know how it goes.
