I’m new to using Theme X and just wanted clarification regarding SEO.
Is SEO already integrated into Theme X? If so, is there somewhere I input specific code, or is SEO built into the Theme X code itself, as in it pulls SEO from the website itself?
If SEO is not integrated into Theme X, should I install the Yoast plug-in? When looking for an answer to the question above, it seems many users use Yoast.

Hey Roger,
X is search engine optimized. That means its code is semantic so search engines could understand your content better. Features like adding meta keyword and description and keyword analysis are not available in X. In which case, you need an SEO plugin.

Thank you for your response. I understand that X is “search engine optimized.” I’m still unclear as to why so many people install the SEO plug-ins.
If I use a separate SEO plugin, what would be the benefit if any? Ie. would the SEO plugin do the same thing X already does, or does it do something in addition or different than what X does?
Would there be any cons to using an SEO plugin, such as bloat and increased load times?

SEO Plugins will help you for sure. SEO is a fairly complex subject.
I recommend you using ALL IN ONE SEO or SEO by YOAST.
Beside that study about the subject. Content is also the king, but so is good mark-up and keyword research on your content.
Please take a look at youtube videos about how to setup any of the mentioned plugins in order to better understand the functionalities.
