Hi there

I wonder if you can help. I recently completed a website for a customer www.claassfp.co.uk.

I used Pro plus Yoast Plugin for SEO. I completed all the input for Yoast ie Title, Description and Keywords. However in searches, what comes up is mostly the information from the footer of the website and NOT the actual Yoast Description!

In Yoast there is an option to enable which says “Cornerstone Content” and this I have enabled.

My questions are:

  1. Should this cornerstone content be enabled in Yoast?
  2. Is there any reason why it would pick up the footer content instead of the actual description?
  3. Is there anything I need to do to make this work properly with Pro?
  4. Should I use another seo plugin and if so what do you recommend?

This is a bit concerning as I do a lot of, and have done a lot of, websites using Pro and using Yoast. I build to google guidelines ie correctly naming images and giving them alt tags, making sure that all the Titles, Descriptions and Keywords for every pages.

Your advice would very much be appreciated.

Here are the answers to each of your questions:

Yoast Cornerstone Content is not connected to our Cornerstone plugin nor any part of our products in general. I’m not exactly sure what it does but maybe you can read this article to find the answer.

As far as I know, Yoast SEO only scans the content and not the whole website. With that said, it can’t scan contents in header, footer, and widgets. You might want to use third-party SEO tools that are able to scan whole websites and not just content of pages

There’s no extra setup required for Yoast SEO to analyze content built using the Content Builder. In the past, there were issues but they have been fixed since Pro 3.0.0, X 7.0.0, Cornerstone 4.0.0.

We only have Yoast SEO integration. But, you might want to try other SEO plugins just to see if they will work.
