Search - no results

Hi there,

I have searched for this on forums, but cannot find anything to help

When I switch theme, search is working, but switch to my Pro theme child and no search results.

I always get - nothing to show right now message

  • Can you advise what I can look at to try and determine what is going wrong ?

many thanks

Mark

Hey Mark,

Since switching to the parent makes the search function work again, it means that some code in your child theme is causing the issue.

You can try removing codes in your child theme block by block to see which code block is causing the issue. Or, it would be best that your hire a developer to investigate the issue for you since we do not offer custom code repair service as part of our product support.

Thanks for understanding.

Hi @christian_y,

thanks but this is not the issue.
I tried also on the vanilla pro theme and I get the same issue.
So the issue is in the theme, not in the child theme.

My child theme only has a few functions (enqueue stylesheet, some shortcodes)
and I don’t overload any of the framework files.

Hello @markw1,

Thanks for updating in! There could be corrupted or missing files that may have caused the issue. Can you please reinstall the Pro theme? You can put your site in under construction mode, switch to Twenty Nineteen theme and delete Pro theme. You can then go to your APEX dashboard to download the latest copy of Pro theme and install it to your site again.

Please let us know how it goes.

HI @RueNel,

thanks for response,
I replaced the Pro Theme, but issue still remains.

Dev Notes

Removed Pro theme directory
Downloaded pro zip file
re-installed pro
cleared all caches
cleared all local browser caches
tested on pro vanilla and on child theme - still search returns nothing

Hello @markw1,

Since you have done most of the troubleshooting and still the issue remains, may we have the permission to put your site under construction mode and test for a plugin conflict? We need to investigate this issue further.

Kindly let know if you let us do it.

Hi that would be a big help
Please go ahead.
Please advise when completed as I am making other changes to the content.

many thanks for your help

Hello @markw1,

I have investigated the issue and I can confirm that both the Pro theme and Pro Child theme does not return any search results. I already reinstalled the Pro theme either. I have tested the X and X child theme’s and no issues were found. This could be a bug or conflict between Pro theme and a plugin. Can you please test for a plugin conflict? You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Kindly let us know how it goes.
