Search Content - Intuitive Search to cover static product data

I’m using Pro 2.4.6, Integrity Stack for a corporate website and having issues with the search feature not including results from static pages.

When end users use the search bar, I need page content & media files (pdfs, doc) searched as these are typically where the information they need is found. Is there a way to broaden searched content beyond the page title or am I missing something important in the way the pages are set up to get the results included? In my ideal solution, search would exclude posts entirely as they are mostly just examples of projects the company has products in and not the technical information my users are looking for. For instance, typing in the name of a product results in five posts where the product is mentioned, followed by the product page, and then more semi-related posts. Being more specific in search comes back with no results found. Is there a more intuitive search function available for this theme? Some of the products include hyphens and weird spellings so I need something that may help with that too.

Hi Kira,

Thank you for reaching out to us, It’s the default behavior of WordPress searching. To modify the search functionality You’d have to do some modification to the generated SQL query via filters: posts_search, posts_join, posts_where which is regretfully outside the scope of our support

Or you can just use the plugin WP Extended Search, you can include all types for searching in the plugin’s settings (see screenshot)

Please note that we cannot provide support for third party plugins or scripts as our support policy states due to the fact that there is simply no way to account for all of the potential variables at play when using another developer’s plugin or script. Because of this, any questions you have regarding setup, integration, or troubleshooting any piece of functionality that is not native to X will need to be directed to the original developer.
