I checked your site. It seems that you are not using the latest version of the X theme. It would be best if you could copying your live website to your staging area. then update your theme and plugin.

I would suggest you follow the below steps while updating to the latest version of the theme.

1. Delete the Cornerstone
2. Update the X theme to the latest version on automatic updates
3. After the X theme is updated, use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone. It will be at the latest version

I would also suggest you troubleshot a few common issues on this.

1.Plugin Conflict
2.Theme Update related issue
3.Child Theme Related issue
4.CSS/JS Customization
5. Version Compatibility

If the issue still persists please let us know. Please share your FTP as well in the secure note.

You are right I am not using the latest version as I have pointed out a few times it changes the layout on the homepage. There are no child themes and no customisation - the theme update is the problem - I had tried to see if there is a plugin conflict but can’t see one. I don’t see how updating the copy of my website on the staging site would be different - I took a backup before I did the updates on the live site - got the problem and put the backup back because of the problem. That’s why I am not using the latest version - the problem seems to be the latest version. But I hadn’t tried deleting cornerstone and now that I have tried that on the live site it seems to have worked so thanks

Creating a staging site is quite useful because you can test drive any X/ Pro updates in the staging area, do the customizations and troubleshooting without disrupting your live site. Once everything is perfect, you can easily and flawlessly proceed the update in the live site. To know how to create a staging area, please check out these articles:

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.
