Revolution Slider Video Background doesn't work on Firefox & Edge

Hi there,

i experience that a background video (3MB) in a revolution slider isn’t loading in firefox and edge.
But on another similiar setup with an even bigger video file (10MB) autoplay works just fine on desktop devices across the different browsers.
On both setups it’s a compressed .mov file.
But in the first setup not even the video poster shows up (mobile chrome).
Instead it’s turning black.

Hi @ArtOfSpring,

Thank you for writing in, .mov is not suitable for a web video. Please convert your video to .mp4 format. More details on the following link.

Choosing the Best Video Format for the Web

Cheers!

Hi there,

I tried that before with the same result.
Additionaly on the other setup it’s a .mov file too and it works even on mobile devices in chrome.

Hi @ArtOfSpring,

Try accessing your video directly on your browser, you’ll see Chrome, Edge, and IE is trying to download your video (not playing), in Firefox even though it loads the video it does not play it.

The .mov format is developed by Apple, while it may work with Mac and iOS devices (and Safari), there is no guarantee that it will work on Windows computers/devices, hope that makes sense.

See the duplicate slider I created with a .mp4 format video, it plays on all browsers.

If you don’t have any video converter application, you might want to try this (its free)

Hope it helps,
Cheers!
