Revolution Slider on Homepage is not visible on front end after update to Revolution Slider Version 6.2.21

The Revolution Slider that has been on the homepage for years is suddenly not showing up on the front end after I updated the plugin from Version 6.2.15 to Version 6.2.21. No other major updates were done. Wordpress was not updated. Theme was not updated either. Just plugins, including Rev slider. I checked version compatibility here in the KB and it said the latest version was compatible, so I updated to it. Please help. Credentials to follow.

Hello @blissville

Thanks for writing to us

I checked your website It is running on WordPress 5.5 version.
I would suggest you downgrading WordPress to version 5.3. 5.3 is the supported version and the one we currently support.

The Revolution Slider element of WPBakery Page Builder is not working properly in WordPress 5.5 version in place of Revolution Slider element you can use the Text Element and use the shortcode of Revolution Slider to render slider on the home page.

I have tested it and it is working fine, you can check in your website I have created a test page and I have used Text element of WPBakery Page Builder to render Revolution Slider. The page(Test Page) is in the draft mode now.

Thanks

Thanks for your response. I do not wish to downgrade Wordpress if I can avoid it. I upgraded to 5.5 quite some time ago and had zero issues with the site, including no issues with the Rev slider plugin. I have Rev sliders on a number of other pages and they are working just fine. Why is the one on the homepage not working? I tried your solution of using a Rev slider shortcode in a text module on the homepage and that did not work. And yes I purged the cache on the site and on my browser. It is still not showing up. Any other ideas for what could be the issue on just the homepage? Thanks.

Hello @blissville

I tested your home page content in the “Test” page slider works fine. I can see there is some Javascript console error on the home page. There is one more difference I can see that is you have created a custom template and assigned it on the home page.

Test Page, it has a default page template and the slider is working fine and there is no Javascript error in the console.

Please note that we do not provide support for child theme and custom code it is of the support scope.

Thanks

Thanks for looking into it. For anyone else who is interested, I resolved the problem by downgrading Revolution Slider back to Version 6.2.15.

Hi Rayna,

We really appreciate for telling us that you have resolved your issue by downgrading RevSlider. Our developers and the creators of the plugin are also investigating this issue with 6.2.21 throwing in some errors. A release update should be available anytime soon.

Best Regards.

I downloaded and started using Revolution Slider about two hours ago. I am using Wordpress 5.5. Revolution Slider recommended that I upgrade to the new version. When I did that, the plug in crashed. It does not show on my dashboard nor on my plug in page. However, if i try to reinstall, the sire tells me that I have installed it already. Can you please assist?

Hello @AdminRLCG,

Thanks for updating this thread. Please make sure that you are up to date.
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 7.2.3
  • Cornerstone 4.2.3
  • WordPress 5.3.2 or higher
  • PHP 7.2 or higher

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog:

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Please let us know how it goes.
