Revolution slider doesn't work

Hi all-
I updated my plug-ins and now my revolution slider is not working and ll the slides i built in revolution slider on my site are now showing up. Can someone just make it go back to the way I had it on my site before making the update?

Hi There,

I can see the slider plugin has not installed in your site.
Please delete the Rev. slider folder via FTP and reinstall it through admin and let us know it its works.

Thanks

how do i delete it via FTP? what does that stand for? When I go to delete it it says that the folder already exists

Hi There,

FTP is a way of accessing your files and folder on your server (please read this for more info). If you don’t have FTP credentials, please contact your hosting and ask how to create one.

The site acts like you have already installed the Revolution Slider because of the presence of the folder revslider on this directory /wp-content/plugins/. That is why the site prevents you from installing it.

What you need to is login to your server via FTP and navigate to this directory /wp-content/plugins/, look for the revslider folder and delete it. (Actually, you can also do this in cPanel’s File Manager)

After you’ve successfully deleted that folder, you can now re-install the Rev Slider under X > Overview > Extension.

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

Thank you! the problem is i already had revolution slider installed and made all these slides o it that were on my sites as well and by deleting revolution slider all the slides i worked really hard on will be deleted i just want to go back to the old update…

Also I tried doing what you suggested and read the FTP article but it didn’t work, i just think this revolution slider is not compatible with the new x theme update…i have been reading online a lot about this and a lot of people are experiencing the same problem.

Maybe you can try and see for yourself…

Hi there,

I would recommend restoring your entire site to the date before you did the update. Missing slides could be database related, the issue isn’t between rev slider and the theme, but the gap between your old rev slider and the latest rev slider. Adding it through FTP will not work if it’s really a database issue, to be safe, you may want to contact your hosting provider to restore your site.

If it’s the incompatibility between the theme and sliders, then it should be script related with no missing sliders. The two has no internal integration to affect the main structures of the slider.

Thanks!

how do i restore my site to the date before the update? will it delete the work i have done up to now…i dont want to lose the work i did now but want my revolution slides on my site to appear…can you please assist

Hi there,

You have to contact your hosting provider in order to do that, and yes, it will delete the changes you made after the target date. Let’s try this,

  1. Clone your current site into a staging (a test site in a sub-folder or sub-domain) so you have the latest copy of your site before you restore it
  2. Restore your live site to the older copy where the sliders are still working
  3. Then export your sliders from the restored site
  4. Then import your sliders to the cloned site
  5. Check your cloned site’s slider if it’s working and fix any error if needed
  6. Once you’re done, migrate your cloned site back to live site overwriting it

In the future, I recommend testing the update in a staging site first. It will save you a lot of trouble and time

Thanks!
