Revolution Slider Deactivated & Stopped Working - Can't Reinstall

Hi,

One of my clients updated all their plugins yesterday but all the rev sliders have stopped working and the rev slider has disappeared. I read one error message which said something like rev slider has been de-activated due to a missing file - the message hasn’t appeared again so I can give you the exact words. Rev slider is no longer visible in the list of plugins and I can’t re-install it because it says the folder already exists. I have A LOT of sliders on this site. How can I resolve this issue without losing all the previously built sliders?

Many Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

Please do the following.

  1. Login to FTP or Cpanel > File Manager
  2. Navigate to wp-content/plugins and delete revslider folder.
  3. Install the plugin again via X > Validation

Hope that helps

Thanks Paul,

Will this keep all my old sliders or will they be deleted?

Also…do you know why this has happened?

Regards
Mark

Hi Mark,

Yes, it should keep your old sliders.

But as always please do create full backup of your site before deleting it.

I am not really sure what happened, all I can think of is that the update did not complete for revslider plugin and it got corrupted.

Thanks

Thanks again Paul !

I renamed the revslider folder instead of deleting it - I assume this is OK? When I tried to re-install the plugin it looked like it was going OK then I got an error message. Details said the plugin was already installed. Any ideas?

I also tried flushing the cache before reinstalling the Slider Revolution plugin but got the same error message.

Hi there

Just remove the Old folder via FTP and re-install.

If that doesn’t help please send us your website details so that we can help.
lease provide following information:
Set it as Secure Note

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password
  • FTP credentials
    All the best!

Hope that works.

UPDATE : This is now RESOLVED.

I left the browser window open that was showing the install error. After half an hour or so I revisited the page and Slider Revolution was showing as successfully installed. Extremely misleading error messages ! But a result all the same

Many thanks for all your suggestions Paul.

You are most welcome.
