Rev Slider not working after update

Hi there,

Following an update of the theme X / plugins, I lost my slider revolution. I am trying to re-install but get an error “Destination Folder Already Exists”

But I cannot see Slider Revolution among my plugins.

I have tried deleting and re-uploading through FTP and does not work.

Could you please help me.

Thank you

Matt

Hi @mattlanix,

Thanks for writing in.

Upon checking your FTP, I could see your revolution sliders.

Delete or remove the revslider folder then re-install it again via X adds on.

Don’t forget to check your setup if it is the latest version so that you will install the latest version that is compatible to the version that you are using.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hi @nico,

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, I tried it. I deleted all the Revslider folder.
But when I try to re-install it again via X adds on, I still have the error message “Destination folder already exists”.

Matt

Hi Matt,

Please clear all your site’s caching plugin and feature and try to reinstall the Revolution Slider again.

If it still does not work still, please deactivate your caching plugin and provide us admin credentials so we can take a closer look.

Cheers!

Hi @friech,

I have cleared the caching plugin but the problem remains.

Do you mind having a look?

Thanks

Hi There,

I did take a look, try switching to parent X theme as your current child theme seems to be outdated.

And this can also be a folder permission issue, as I can upload the revslider plugin manually via FTP but not in the backend. Change your folder permission to 755.

Thanks,

Hi @friech,

I am not able to change the folder permission.
I think it is since I updated the X theme. Rev Slider was correctly working before that.

I am not sure what I can do to get it back.

Thanks

Matt

Hi again,

I deleted all the rev slider files in my database (phpMyAdmin).
I tried to upload the rev slider (zip file) on Wordpress.

Unfortunately, the error message I have is: Destination folder already exists. /home/hp3-linc4-nfs1-x/174/1105174/user/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/revslider/

However, there was no folder. I don’t understand where is this existing folder.

Hi Matt,

In that case please contact your hosting and ask how you can change the folder permission effectively. And ask why the site is giving you the error “Destination Folder Already Exists” but not seeing any revslider folder on said directory. They have a better overview of your site’s folder/files so they might have an idea what is happening there.

Don’t fiddle on your database, I think that has nothing to do with this issue.

Have a nice day,
Cheers!

Hi @friech,

The permission has been changed. But the issue is remaining.
I do not understand why the Revslider disappeared from my dashboard.

I am able to install any other plugins without any problem. That’s strange.

Matt

Hi there,

I think the problem here is the installation itself, and it fails. I tried it multiple times too and it fails in the middle, hence, creating incomplete files. Retrying it will only display error that it’s already existing because it is, just incomplete. Deleting it again will just repeat the issue once you install it. The best workaround, for now, is install it through FTP, by downloading the files from Themeforest and extract the revslider zip package and upload the folder.

And the only one who could help you with installation issue is your hosting provider. The theme only provides the files that are needed to be installed, and Wordpress install it with the help of the system it runs to. Maybe they can find some error log during the installation (not the folder already exist error, but the error before it).

Thanks!

Hi @Rad

Thanks a lot!!!
I installed it through FTP, by downloading the files from Themeforest and it worked!

Glad it’s okay now and you’re most welcome!
