Responsiveness and portfolio category view

Hi,

I have two challenges with my new website (https://www.studiogemma.nl/)

First, when you click on a portfolio-category (like “poster”) the overview of all my posters shows very big images. Is 't possible to view the smaller image i put in the content (and not showing the featured image)?

Second, when you adjust the screen size - make it smaller - in the browser Safari, some of the upper text (the headings and breadcrumbs) disappear and also the menu drops below the logo. I would like to have the menu in the mobile way (as the dropdown) in the case the menu doesn’t fit anymore next to the logo.

Can you help me with that? Thank you so much!

Hey @gemmaswiers,

I’m sorry but I’m not sure what you need to achieve for your first point.

For the 2nd point, there’s no more space for the logo and the whole menu for them to stay in one line. In X there’s no option to switch to the mobile nav earlier. You can only do either 1 of the 2 things below.

  1. Reduce the Width of your logo. Go to Theme Options > Header > Logo - Image > Logo Width.

  2. Or, remove 1 or 2 items in your menu.

Hope that helps.

Hi Christian,

Thank you for the explanation at the 2nd point!

The first point, maybe the link to the specific one-category-of-portfolio-overview is more clear; https://www.studiogemma.nl/portfolio-category/poster/

In the footer of my site I put the links to a few categories of my portfolio, as you can see in this screenshot:

I would like to have an overview (with items which have the same category) with smaller images. If possible the same size as the view of only 1 portfolio-item, like: https://www.studiogemma.nl/portfolio/zomerweken-2/

I would love to have an overview a bit like the image i composed with category posters. Is something like this possible?

If not, is it possible to create a link to the portfolio with only one category filtered?

When that’s possible, i would maybe like to turn off the specific one-category-of-portfolio-overview.

Thank you again!
Gemma

Hi Christian,

I forgot one thing to mention about point 2 and the responsiveness aspects. I know now there is no option to overcome the dropping of the menu in smaller views, but why - in browser Safari - is the heading half shown and are the breadcrumbs missing? I put a screenshot below… Something wrong in my addings in the CSS code? Hopefully you can help me out here… Thanks again!

Hello @gemmaswiers,

Instead of using the portfolio category archive pages in your links, you can create another portfolio page displaying portfolio items of the same category which will have the same layout as your main portfolio page. You can always filter the portfolio items by category. And you can turn off the sort filter button for the page too. To learn more about how you can set up a portfolio and portfolio page by category, kindly check out this documentation: https://theme.co/docs/set-up-portfolios

Meanwhile, when you resize your screen into a very narrow one, the navigation items gets to another row covering the breadcrumbs. This is why you are no longer seeing it or has been slightly covered by the navbar.

If you reduce your image logo in X > Theme Options > Header > Logo - Image > Logo Image Width to ad least 140 pixels, you might be able to prevent this from happening.

Hope this helps.
