Responsive images srcset image-set support

Hi guys,

Any news on srcset and image-set support for X+Cornerstone/Pro image and structure elements? It’s becoming so commonplace now that all X/Pro sites are getting hammered in audits because we can’t serve responsive images even though WordPress has built-in responsive image support…

We all could do with:

  • HTML “srcset” attribute support for Cornerstone/Pro V2 Image Element
  • CSS background-image “image-type” support for background images set in Cornerstone/Pro Containers/Rows/Columns

I’ve see it come by in the past in forums and on Envato. Obviously there is high demand and our (client’s) sites are being downranked because of poor loadtimes due to lack of support for this important feature.

Thanks!

Hello Meng,

Thanks for writing in!

Our developers are aware of support for srcset. At the moment I am not in a position to share ETA but you can keep an eye on changelog page for updates:

Thanks.

Hi Prasant,

Bottom line is that Cornerstone/Pro now works great for producing visually stunning websites but at a severe cost in page loading times and though in the past it was often overlooked/tolerated this is gradually has become a dealbreaker for several of our clients. I’ll need a more concrete indication of how this feature is prioritized:

X/Pro has become essential in creating high quality productions that continue to provide optimal editability for marketeers after delivery. Unfortunately the marketeers that end up using the websites don’t all understand the importance of uploading optimized images, which is why WordPress has had built-in srcset support since 4.4; however X has disabled this since 4.5.0 (June 2016).

We’re 3 years down the road now, come on guys, we need a fix for mobile-friendly/responsive images!

Also, would you have an indication on ways to defer loading of non-essential JS/CSS (especially stack css files that have become completely redundant/useless with pro and v2 elements)

Thank you very much

Hi Meng,

Our developers are working on those areas as it is a part of Theme Forest requirement. So I cannot provide more information at the moment.

With regard to your other concern, all of optimization like defer should be able to implement through an optimization plugin since WordPress has been built in a modular way. You may need to research more on it to find a suitable method in your situation.

Thanks!
