Removing Section Names

Hi. I’m renovating our website (yay) and starting to better use templates/element templates. I accidentally saved a section template with a name associated with it. However, I’m not able to remove the name and resave the template with a blank (Section 1, Section 2, etc) name. It pops up as the previously saved name. The only solution was to delete the template and save a new template (assuming you wanted the template title to remain the same).

In addition, removing a section name within Cornerstone, saving the page, and refreshing the page loads the previous section name. I’ve not tried this on other elements. The only other element I would consider renaming is a row at this point. Can someone confirm this is a bug, a quirk, or I’m doing something wrong?

Hi @MontreatDesigner,

I am not sure if I follow the request. The way that you would rename a section is to double click on the name of the section and change the name. You would not need to delete the section.

Of course, you also need to save the page to see the result. But other than that I do not see a problem with my installation.

Would you please give us a screencast of what you are experiencing o see the problem? It will help also if you can give us the Url/User/Pass of your website and a test page name to see what you are experiencing via a secure note:

Thank you.

Well, I’ll be totally honest. I tried this out on our staging site to try to record the event, but everything works as it should. I then tried again on our live site and everything seems normal:

  1. I can resave templates to remove template-saved names of sections, and
  2. I can unname sections, save the page and reload, and the sections will remain unnamed.

I can’t say what was happening. Since I’ve remade the template on our live site, I’ve not run into this issue again. Maybe the template save was corrupted in some way. A day or so before I notice the issue (that no longer seems to be an issue), I had imported templates to our live site from our staging site. So maybe that’s where a quirk was added. (Similar issues are not present elsewhere as far as I can tell.)

Let’s chalk this up to a glitch in the Matrix? I’ll keep my eye open to see if this issue arises again. Thank you for your help.

Hello @MontreatDesigner,

It is possible that is was some server/site internal cache that didn’t get cleared up while you were doing the changes on the live site.

We’re glad to hear that the issue is sorted.

Very probable. We use WP Engine and I often have issues with the cache no showing updates made. I often have to flush the cache when making more critical or noticeable edits.

Great News. Thanks for sharing that information.
