Removing analytics tracking code from website

hi,
first of all, I am no techie, just an artist creating and maintaining her own website.

instead of adding GA code, I want to remove it for privacy reasons.

from another forum post, I learned that I have to dive into the php files?
Is that so? then, help!

How do I go about that?

Wishing you a wonderful day,
Hermien

Hello Hermien,

Thanks for writing to us.

It depends upon how you have added your Google analytics code. In case if you have added it through the plugin you can deactivate or in case if you have added it through the PHP code by using the child theme then you need to comment those PHP codes so that it doesn’t execute. Please have a look at this article to learn more about how to comment on PHP code or you can remove the PHP code.

Hope it helps
Thanks

You’re a lifesaver! I could hug you!

I had looked at the plugins, hoping to find an answer there, but apparently did not use my right pair of eyes.
checking again, I found the X-google analytics plugin. YES!
So happy with your help. Deactivating a plugin, I can do that!

Thank you! And wishing you the most amazing rest of your day!
Hermien
