Remove bars from boxed version

Is there any way to remove the bars, or change their colours to white in a boxed layout?

Yes, that can be removed using the custom CSS code, which is beyond the scope of Theme Support. I would suggest you hire a developer who can assist you to do the customization or you can avail of our newly launched service called One, where we answer the questions beyond normal theme support.
Alternatively, you can try the Fullwidth layout setting from the Theme Options > Layout and Design.
