Remove author visually & to search engines, etc

Hello, I’m working on a site for an organization that wants to have multiple content authors, but wants their identity to be anonymous to the public.

I know it’s easy to remove them wherever they are visual with some CSS, but I’d instead like them not to be published at all or obtainable by non site admins.

I’m guessing occurrences could be removed from page templates, but I’m wondering if it might be better/easier to filter them with some PHP in functions.php. I ran across a couple of old threads where the code seemed specific to the stack (which might still work), but I thought I’d ask if it could be outlined in a generic way (to use with any stack), as well as other places that info might appear besides the page/post meta under the title.

(I suppose a 3rd party plugin could introduce that data, but I’m referring to X/Pro specifically.)

Thanks for writing in! The post author is included in the post meta. In each stack, the post meta has been displayed differently. Only in Icon that the author is not included in the post meta. If you want to remove the author in the post meta, you will need to override the Post Meta function. You can make use of this code blocks to make sure that the author is not visible in all stacks. Please add the following code in your child theme’s functions.php file
