There’s a useful shortcode in place, Recent Posts, I think it can do a lot more with some rethinking.
Saving plugins and manual editing elsewhere is not futile.
Example:
[recent_posts class=“related-posts-grid” count=“8” orientation=“horizontal” category="{{dc:term:name}}"]
MULTILINGUAL
All posts in that grid say “Permalink to: title”
What about making the title attribute multilingual? Some sort of title=“value” attribute.
In my case, local market site only need ES locale. Not only UX, also another atom for SEO.
Editing at /html/wp-content/themes/pro/cornerstone/includes/shortcodes is enough, but you need to replicate all those folders at child theme. Not heavy, but repetitive task.
FILTERING
Over time, threads like Similar posts based on tags have been piling up. Each has a different answer, the latter (see link) seems to work, but in my case the tags relation is not consistent.
Some alternative to category=“value” like tag or a custom taxonomy to cover CPTs.
OTHER
Icon selection? Lazy/Eager loading? Selecting between background IMG or IMG element?
I can’t tell what you could deliver from this handy shortcode, another mind-blowing solution is always goods news.
Yes there are a ton of plugins that can deliver even exceed, but I’d love to KEEP IT SIMPLE and as contained as possible within PRO.
