Regenerate Thumbnails

Hello Support,

To get images and page loading optimized, I do lots of photo cropping and resizing.
Will you recommend using the Regenerate Thumbnails Plugin to streamline this process?

Or, is there a good reason why it may NOT be a good idea to use this type of “image resizing plugins”.

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! You can follow this recommendation and see if that helps in your situation (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/turn-off-thumbnail-resizing-on-woocommerce-pages/22555/2?u=mldarshana).

Thanks!

Basically, if WooCommerce recommends using the Regenerate Thumbnails, then I should go ahead and use it worry free.

Hi There,

Regenerate Thumbnails is not an images optimizer plugin, it’s for re-cropping existing image to a new size that your site requires (images that used by WP, Theme, Woocomerce, & Plugins).

This plugin only follows certain algorithm when cropping an image, so if the image is not in the proper size (different dimension/aspect ratio) it might crop the area that it should not. Unlike if we crop the image manually (e.g. in Photoshop) we are sure that it will properly crop in the right area.

Hope this shed some lights,
Cheers!
