I wanted to know if there was any other way to do this.

Thank you for the very detailed post information. I was wondering what would really be your new design? Does your new design affects the layout of each post page? Please be advised that Cornerstone is a post/page builder. Though it has Cornerstone template features, you will have to apply this template on a page by page basis. There is no setting in the theme or Cornerstone that you can change or do mass edits. Unless you only want to change something like in the header, sidebar or footer, then that can be easily done.
