Recenty Uploaded Images Showing Blurry In Essential Grid

Me again!

Running X Theme, Integrity Stack, on Firefox this time, latest version of Wordpress and theme.

I’m running into an issue with recently uploaded featured images displaying incorrectly in Essential Grid, but looking fine anywhere else. I’ve tried deactivating any optimization plugins (Smush, SG Optmization) and clearing the Essential Grid cache, but it still happens, regardless of which browser or device I’m on.

When I upload a featured image, it only takes up a small corner of the featured image slot, as shown below, as opposed to filling up the whole space.

The featured image displays just fine on our front page, using the Classic Latest Posts element in Cornerstone:

But displays incorrectly in the grid:

We rely pretty heavily on images to direct site traffic and engagement, so the sooner this can be resolved, the better. Thanks!

Hi Bill,

Thank you for writing in, please clear all your caching and Optimizer plugins again and deactivate those for a while. Then try to regenerate your Thumbnails. You can use this plugin.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

This did not work.

We disabled all optimization plugins and purged all caches, including the Essential Grid cache. We removed the problem featured images, cleared the caches, and reuploaded the problem images. Browser caches were cleared, images are still blurry.

It should be noted that these images were uploaded and set as featured images while the site was still in staging mode. All other images that were already uploaded while the site was in staging mode are displaying in the grid with no issue.

These images are ONLY showing blurry in the Essential Grid, nowhere else.

Hey Bill,

I checked a page of your site with Essential Grid and images in the grid are sharp. I checked in Chrome, Firefox and on my Phone.

It looks like you have resolved the issue. If not, please give us the URL of the page having this issue.

Please just note that the WP Smush plugin has recently been known to cause blurry images so you need to test with that plugin uninstalled and cache cleared after that.

Thanks.

Yeah the issue only applied to images we uploaded recently - turns out I’m just a fool and set the source settings to pull from too small an image!

Problem resolved, thanks so much for your time!

You’re always welcome.

Glad this is now sorted out. Thank you also for updating us.
Cheers!
