Recent posts sidebar not working

Hi there,

my site is http://dqs-cfs.com/. Each blog post has a sidebar where the title of other recent posts is displayed. Example:
http://dqs-cfs.com/2018/03/keeping-risk-management-simple-revised-iso-310012018/

Unfortunately when you click on one of the other recent posts in the sidebar, this does not link to the relevant post, but to the post you are already looking at.

Again example: you have the post on risk management open on your screen, you click on any other recent post in the sidebar and the link is again to the post on risk management.

I don’t know how long this problem has been there - I never noticed before, but obviously it is an embarrassing bug.

Hi Thijs,

Are you using the recent post shortcode for the sidebar? If so, did you have any customization added to the shortcode because as I have checked, the href values of the post that the widget generates are all the link to the current page so there must be something in the customization that alters it.

Kindly try to double check on your end and remove or change the custom code that you have.

In case you did not add any, please provide us with the admin and FTP details of your site in a secure note so that we could check this further.

Hi Jade,

thank you for your reply. We do not use a shortcode but rather the widget “Recent Posts” without any customization. I cannot give you the FTP details but I’ll add my admin details in a secure note.

Hi There,

I have investigated this issue further and it seems one of your WPML plugin(s) cause this issue. Could you please try updating those outdated plugins, purge your server cache and re-test this issue again.

We’ve updated the plugins. How do we purge a server cache? This is different from the browser cache, I suppose?

Hi There,

Server cache is different from the browser cache. If you are using any Cache plugin please clear the cache there. Server cache for example :
Cloudflare. If you are using Cloudflare please disable this for testing purposes. Cloudflare by default enables an auto minfication function to compress the JS and CSS files of the theme. As the theme already serves minified files, re-minifying said files only causes to break the entire site.

Thanks for clarifying, but it does not make a difference. We are using WP Super Cache - we’ve cleared the cache but the problem remains. Deactivating the plugin did not solve the issue either.

Hi Thijs,

I checked the admin area of your site and there seems to be something added to the theme that is causing the links of the wordpress recent post widget to be changed. Perhaps there are some codes added which are causing this though I cannot verify for now because we do not have access to your site files.

Is there a chance that you can provide us with your FTP details so that we can check this issue further?
