Recent Posts Shortcode Linking to Specific Pages

Hi, I’d like to have an overall News page, and pull in a Recent Post from each Category. And then have that Recent Post go to the page created for that category. Is this possible? I saw this code in a previous thread, but it looks like it would only work for one page instead of several pages.

For instance, I would use a shortcode to pull in Recent Posts for Articles, Press Releases, Op-Eds and Newsletters. Each of these would then go to that specific page that has a grid listing all of the Articles (and a page for Press Releases, and a page for Op-Eds and a page for Newsletters).

If that isn’t possible, can I remove the link altogether?

And one more question on Recent Posts …is it possible to make the image size a square?

Is this possible?

Let me clarify a few things before.

  1. Do you want to show the posts by category? If Yes:

To show the category wise post you can use the recent_post shortcode or you can try using the bundled grid plugins. Both have the features you need.

  1. And then have that Recent Post go to the page created for that category. Do you want to link the category page with each post? If yes:
    Usually, the categories shown with the posts are linked to the specific category pages.

  2. Do you want to remove the link from the post? If yes:

Regretfully, there is no such option for this, if you wish you can hire a developer or can avail our one, for customization.

  1. Image size for recent posts depends on the number of columns or the width of the container where it placed.

Hi,

  1. Yes, I want to show a recent post by category. I was using the shortcode already to make this happen. I have also investigated the Grid options, but was not able to make them link to the page I want them to link to.

  2. I would like the Recent post to go to a custom link, not to a generated category page. This is the key thing I am trying to accomplish. I’d like for my main News page to show a recent post from each category and then link to a Custom Page I have built for each category.

Regretfully, such option is not available with our theme
If you still want to add this, I would suggest you hire a developer who can assist you to do the customization or you can avail our newly launched service called One, where any customization questions are answered.
