Recent Post Sidebar does not show sticky post at the top

I marked the Post “101 Thing to Do in Rocky Point Mexico” by checking the sticky box. I was expecting that this Post would always show up first in the Recent Posts sidebar list. It does not.
How can I accomplish always showing this post at the top of the list on the “Recent Posts” sidebar?

Thanks for writing in!

Regretfully the default recent posts widget does not offer to display sticky posts.

I would recommend that you install a 3rd party plugin, Recent Posts Widget Extended (https://wordpress.org/plugins/recent-posts-widget-extended/) instead.

Thanks for the hint on solving this issue.
That plugin did not support the Sticky function.

I found this alternative plugin, “Recent Posts Widget With Thumbnails” by Stehle, that is both compatible with the current version of WP and has the Sticky feature placing them at the top of the Recent Post list.


Seems to work with your theme.
