Rearrange Portfolio Gallery Items

I’ve had issues with making portfolio galleries recently. And, I thought I had resolved them, but today I was encountering issues again with not being able to add items to a portfolio gallery. But, now, my question is; how can I rearrange the gallery images? I can’t find anywhere within the portfolio item that even shows what images are attached. And, I can’t find any way to rearrange from the media gallery. So, where and how can I rearrange the order of the images I’ve attached to portfolio items in a gallery??

When I added the images from within the portfolio item the first time, I was able to rearrange them how I wanted. But, after adding them, and deleting the images from the description area of the portfolio, I can’t get back to where I could rearrange them. And, adding images directly within the portfolio item doesn’t always work either. Are there some known bugs with this feature? Because it seems pretty unstable and it’s very unreliable.

Hello There,

Thank you for the very detailed post information. Regretfully the rearrangement of the order of image in the portfolio item gallery or even in the post gallery is not possible as of this moment. This has been in our list of enhancement for easier image management. It has been there for awhile now and no solution as of this moment.

The order of the images depends on the which ever comes first when you have uploaded the images. If you want to edit or delete an image, you will have to manually delete or edit each one of them. Clicking on the “add media” button (http://prntscr.com/gomoj6) will give you the Insert Media popup window. You must select the Media Library > Uploaded to this page (http://prntscr.com/gomooa) so that you can see which of the images are attached to the page and these are the images that will display in the portfolio item gallery.

Well, all I needed to know was that there was a way to get back to seeing all of the images attached to the post. I wasn’t aware that was an option in the dropdown menu that you provided a screen shot of.

Now knowing that, I’ll let you know that you’re actually completely wrong. You absolutely can rearrange images. Once you select Media Library > Uploaded to this Post, all you have to do is click and drag the images in the order you want them to appear from left to right - exit the media library by clicking the ‘x’ in the upper right corner - then click the ‘Update’ button for the post - the images will now be rearranged.

So, inadvertently, you helped a lot. I guess you can tell your development team I solved one of the issues on their long list of to-do’s. Cheers. :wink:

EDIT: Might I suggest you add this to the knowledge base? I’ve got to believe this information is crucial for most people using image galleries in their portfolio items. I know I really wish there was a tutorial in the KB when I went looking for how to access and rearrange images.

Thank you for updating in! This is very informative and should be in one of our knowledge base article. I have tested this myself and it works. I haven’t thought of the the drag and drop in order the images in the media library. Sorry if I wasn’t able to give you the right answer.

Hi, I’m having the same issue (wanting to rearrange my gallery items in portfolio). But I’m lost at the step where you say “Once you select Media Library>Uploaded to Post, all you have to do is…”.

I’m not seeing any option that says “Uploaded to Post” from within the Media Library. Where are you seeing that and/or how do I get there?

Thanks for writing to us.

To rearrange the gallery items you need to select the gallery item and drag the gallery item left or right or down as per your need.
