Read More tag?

I am having trouble with the read more tag. It seemed to work fluidly only a few months ago but not sure if I forgot how it works or something changed. Couple of odd things going on.

  1. Only some pages have the Read More tag as an option on the post, i.e. some do not have it as an option in the tool bar also tool bar just seems less featured on posts.

  2. Also when I add the tag currently it puts the break in the right spot but does not put a Read More link like it used as you can see on many of the stories on the News page.

  3. Also when I look at the html of a page that I know has a Read More tag already in place the html code does not show up thus I cannot simply move it, I can only add a new one which does the above.

Hi @galatia,

Thank you for writing in, If you use Cornerstone in creating the post contents, all will be discarded and no excerpt will be generated. You will need to insert a manual excerpt for the post items so that there will be an excerpt displayed in the blog index.

Thanks for updating in!

The excerpt is generated dynamically from the very first 60 words of the post content. You can increase or decrease the number of words in X > Theme Options > Blog > Content. If the first paragraph is less than the excerpt limit, there will be no read more button. If you have added a manual excerpt, there is also no read more button.
