I hope all is well. I am trying to hide some content in my posts. I have searched through the forum and can see that some people have done it, I also can see that you have been promising this functionality since 2016. Have you added this? If not, how can I get it done? I am not looking for anything fancy, just a link with “read more” to show the hidden content.

I wonder if you want to hide the portions of the post inside the archive page or single posts?
If it is a matter of Archive page, you will need to go to each post in the dashboard and from top right section click the Screen Options and enable the Excerpt option. Then you will have a separate place for each post to add the portion of the post which will show in the archive page.
If you want the case inside the post, you can use a 3rd party plugin such as:
