qTranslate + X Theme Feature Box

I’m trying to use qTranslate to translate the Title and Text of the Feature Box provided in this theme. The issue that I’m hitting is that while I can see in the raw text data that the title value of the Feature Box contains the properly formatted text, e.g. title="[:en]Something in english[:de]Something in German[:]", but in Cornerstone, the control for the Title and Text show the localized values for the currently active language. Meaning that the if the default language is English, then I can only see Something in English in the Title control.

Is this the intended behaviour? Seems a bit odd to fetch the localized version of the text. Especially since other entities that I’ve encountered so far (Headline, for example) do not exhibit this behaviour.

Hey There,

qTranslate may not create another page instance for the translated page. This could be why it is difficult to translate other element titles like the Featured boxes. You may use other translation plugins just as long as it creates multiple instances of the page per language, instead of a single instance of a page with added translations. Please check this https://wpml.org/home/comparing-wpml-free-paid-alternatives/.

Thank you.

So if I understood correctly, then this theme only works properly with a “page per language” approach. If comparing WPML versions, would WPML Blog cover all of the basic functionality, assuming no WooCommerce integration is needed? Or would I need the WPML CMS version?

Hi there,

Yes, it’s a page per language. I had experience with qTranslate even on other themes and it breaks most of the functionality as it creates divisions/separation using [:LANGUAGE] wrappers within the single data. It’s harder to clean, and those bunch of contents will start displaying once you disable it, or their updates fail, or anything that can make the plugin non-functional.

In WPML and it fails, the original page will stay unaffected. WPML CMS is better.

Thanks!

Got it, thanks.
