Pro's Google Fonts implementation and the Hummingbird performance optimization plugin

Hey there,

On my sites I use the Hummingbird performance optimization plugin. It has an asset optimization feature that let’s you minify, combine, defer, delay, load asynchronously and move stylesheets and scripts to the header/footer. It works great, however it doesn’t pick up on the Google Fonts that are set via the Fonts Manager in Pro. Therefore I can’t optimize the fonts and prevent them from being render blocking resources.

The plugin’s devs think it may be due to Pro possibly not using standard WP enqueuing functions. Is that the case? I’ll provide login credentials in a secure note so you can investigate this issue.

Hi @JvP,

You’re right, regretfully the font manager doesn’t utilize the WordPress enqueue system. I’ve got this on our issue tracker to revisit as part of the new Theme Options update (we’ve already started on it). Unfortunately until then, it won’t be something that can be managed by other systems.

Nice, thanks @alexander. In the meantime it’s not a huge issue. I’m glad to hear that this will be addressed in the upcoming Theme Options update :+1:

Hi @JvP,

You are most welcome, and please stay tuned for upcoming releases.
