Product Subcategory Layout

Hi there,

I started this query in another thread, but thought it would be easier on everyone start its own dedicated thread here.

Basically, I’m trying to come up with a product layout that only applies to subcategories. I was told in another thread that there was no way to filter subcategories dynamically and that I would have to manually add them in (which is fine). But I am currently having trouble applying the layout to the frontend view.

Here is what I have now for my conditions:

Can you help me understand what in my conditions is incorrect?

Sorry for the confusion about what I said that the Layout cannot be dynamically added to the subcategories on the other thread. It seems that it was a cache issue when I tried to do the testing. With that said, you can use your Category Grid layout to design your subcategories and it will automatically be applied to your subcategories.

On the other hand, if you still want to use your Subcategory Grid layout for your subcategories page. Please read the explanation why it is not showing properly on the front-end. The reason why it is not showing is because of the priority. The Priority comes into play if you have two assets that might potentially overlap in some instances, allowing you to specify which should take precedent over the other. In these cases, the layout with the lowest priority will be used. With that said, your Category Grid and Subcategory Grid have the same priority which is 0. In order for the Subcategory Grid to show you need to change the priority from 0 to -1 because -1 is lower than 0.

Your layout condition on your Subcategory Grid is wrong, you should use the or not and. The condition should look like this one.
