Problems with migration from X to Pro theme

I’ve been using X as my website theme for several years now. I recently decided to migrate the X license to the Pro theme. After agreeing to exchange the license, I downloaded Pro and the child theme. I then uploaded and installed both to my website. Immediately after activating the fresh, new Pro child theme, the entire website CRASHED. I immediately received an error email from WordPress that said this:

I had to delete both theme folders (Pro and Pro-child) via FTP so that I could get the Admin website back up and going. I downloaded and reinstalled the current X theme so that there’s something for the site, but now I can’t validate it and can’t update Cornerstone. Not sure where to go from here. Anyone out there who can help?

The site is loaded with WordPress 5.3.2. Tried Pro 3.1.2. Installed X 7.1.2 and its using Cornerstone 3.5.4

Hi Jeffrey,

Thank you for writing in and sorry that you’re having that issue. Please deactivate the Cornerstone first before installing/activating PRO.

In X theme the Cornerstone is required, but with PRO the Cornerstone (a.k.a Content Builder) is built-in, so having Cornerstone in PRO is redundant and can cause a conflict.

Let us know how this goes.
Cheers!

Got it. I deactivated all plugins, then went through and reactivated each one-by-one until I found the problem. In the process I ended up deleting all the Themeco plug-ins that I had installed with X and reinstalled the ones I still needed from the Pro theme. At the end of the day, the problem ended up being a third-party plugin for a logo carousel (GS Logo Slider PRO) that seemed to be crashing the entire site.

Thanks!

Cool, glad you sorted things out and thank you for that info.

Cheers!
