Problem with portfolio filter in x theme

hello!

i recently installed x theme and using ethos layout.
my portfolio page is having an unwanted behaviour:

i have 12 items currently posted. so the portfolio page shows six of them in page 1 and the other six in page 2.
im usin the filter by category function but when you use it, it only applies the filter to the current page (it filters by category in the 6 items of the page you are currently standing, not bringing to the first page the posts of that cateory that are in the second page).

i can think of 2 solutions to this, but couldnt find where to configure any of them.

solution 1 (what i would like the most) would be that the filter applied to all my items in the portfolio, and if for example there are 2 of the selected category in the first page and 2 in the second page, it will show the four items in the first page)

solution 2 would be that all items are shown in one page only, and not only the last six. that way the filter will work as intended. only problem with this would be that when i get more items later the page could be huge to load.

Thanks for writing in!

The Portfolio page will display 24 items by default. These 24 items will be the latest portfolio items regardless of the category. On this page, you will also see the portfolio filter. The portfolio filter is designed to filter any of the 24 items being loaded on the page. Clicking on the category does not mean that it will load items that is not loaded on the page. You can only view other items by clicking the next page and then again, the portfolio filter can be use to filter out another batch of the 24 items.

hey, thanks for your help, but my portfolio is showing only 6 items per page, not 24. what php file should i seek to fix that?

You can change that under Portfolio Settings when you edit your portfolio page.

I have the same issue. Is there no workaround to having a preferred amount of items on the page (i.e., less than 24), and still be able to filter all portfolio items without having to load them all on the same page? I currently have 108 items that I have to load on one page in order for the filter to work properly.

In addition to this, is there a feature or a way to arrange the filter options in a custom order (rather than alphabetically)?

Regretfully, what you need could not be achieved using the portfolio template. The template will only hide portfolio items present in the page. What you need is to query the database. You will need an advanced search/filter plugin like FacetWP.
