Problem with new HTML in menus and font icon changes

I have two sites with this issue. They are both using a child theme of the X theme with Cornerstone.

I’ve seen others post about some Font Awesome issues, but I couldn’t figure out a solution from reading about their issues.

My issue seems to be two-fold. 1.) New HTML has been introduced into the header and footer that is causing unwanted icons. 2.) The wanted icon no longer works. In the “old” column, I show how it used to look (from archive.org) in the header and footer and what the HTML looked like then. In the “new” column, I show what it looks like now.

I’d like it to go back to the way it was before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @threadinc,

Thanks for reaching out.
It might be due to the improper update of Cornerstone. I would suggest you update it by following the below steps.

  1. Delete the existing Cornerstone.
  2. After the X theme is updated, use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone. It will be the latest version.

If that does not help, there might be some different reasons behind your issue. I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us recognize the reason.

1.Theme Related Issue
2.Plugin Conflict
3.Theme Update related issue
4.Child Theme Related issue
5.CSS/JS Customization
6.Disabling Cache
7.Disabling CDN

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If none of the above helps, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

NOTE: Also checked and enabled all the options under Theme Options > Miscellaneous > Font Awesome.

Thanks

I tried troubleshooting on a staging version of the site and did not have any luck. I added a secure note to the post above with login info for the staging site. Would you please take a look?

Hey @threadinc,

This is not a bug in X. X does not support icons in the menu unless in a multilevel menu where an indicator icon will show up. I tested the parent theme and it works.

The problem is your child theme customization. If you need support for your child theme, you can subscribe to our One Single Platform to receive custom code guidance.

In case you are open how to add an icon in X theme menu, you can watch the following tutorials in the video playlist below.

Hope that helps.
