Problem with "Navigation collapsed" trigger

Since the last update (6.1.6) the navigation for “sub menu” is broken from mobile phones (or any touch device):
When you clic on the menu item with sub-items it links to the page corresponding to that item, it does not open the sub menu (regardless the option “Sub menu trigger” is “Anchor” or “Sub indicator”), so you can not open it to see the sub items.

I found that:
(remember this happens only in touch devices)
If you drag a little bit in the “sub indicator” (the trigger) then yes, it opens the sub menu.
But I understand it’s not the desired behaviour. It was ok like always, clicking on the trigger, just like before this last update.

Can I see the site for reference? I’ve looked into another site that had an issue with scrolling off-canvas. Something with the scrollbar library we were using, but haven’t determined a fix for it. Your issue might be related, but I will check.

the site is:
https://tercerciclocomunicacion.com/

I was just about to report this but searched first, because it is a very serious issue impacting mobile website traffic.

Happens on this website as well: https://www.optika-kobacic.hr/.

Hi @llribas and @Misho,

I have checked your sites on my Android mobile phone, but, unfortunately, didn’t find the problem. I would request you create a screencasting video that will help us to understand and recognize the problem you referring to.

Thanks

Hi!

Sure, here is the video recorded on an Android phone:

https://video.wpusability.com/recordings/en2AKEjKzJ00l7gze28l

This is the sequence:

  1. Click on the Hamburger menu
  2. Click to expand the dropdown item “Katalog”

Expected: Item expands so sub-items can be clicked.
Observed: Item navigates away even when the toggle is clicked.

Hope this makes it more clear.

Thank you!

@llribas Your example it looks like you have to click on the arrows themselves and I think it’s been a thing for a while. I’m not the biggest fan of it, but I think we can set it up.

@Misho I can only recreate yours with a double tap.

All attempts on iOS, but I’ll go through a bunch of devices and I’ll take a look at mobile again support again for the frontend this week. These off canvas have had issues for years and if I have to add code running specifically to that element then I’ll be happy to do it.

From Android it behaves like the video by @misho, very bad issue.
This issue is from last update 6.1.6, in 6.1.5 it was ok.

I agree, I feel like the problem is occurring on my site on my android phone too. I have tried adjusting padding and margin around the sub indicator, but it still clicks through to the top level link when i click on the sub indicator on my mobile (it does open the submenu items then immediately links through to the top level page.) When you look at trigger points it seems to me that there is not enough trigger area above the indicator. I must admit I feel this has been a problem for a while now, not just the latest update.

I’m not sure when this bug crept in but I know it used to work, as i tested comprehensivly when i first set it up, around the time of the last bigger update, and it was fine then.

As others said, the problem is real, nasty and it requires quick attention. I wanted to rollback Pro to the working version but I don’t have the 6.1.5 files. it is severely affecting conversion rates, since 80%+ of the traffic is mobile.

We’ll have a fix for the next release even if it’s just reverting the toggle handlers. I do see a number of issues with off canvas display and this perfect scrollbar library we use so the revert is likely until I can figure out how to properly handle those.

Do you have an estimate date for this release?
It’s urgent to have a good navigation from mobile in our websites, so we need to find an alternative if it’s not going to be really very soon.

Thank you

If I can’t fix today I’ll release a hotfix tomorrow morning or this evening.

Revert of the touch changes is out now, as well as a couple of small things I was saving for Monday. Will revisit to fix iOS, but It’ll be cleaner next time now that I have your scenarios that are breaking so thank you for bringing this up. Let us know if you have any issues here on android after upgrade.

Yes, this particular issue looks resolved.
Thank you
