Problem retrieving looper data using dc:looper:field key="whatever" depth="1"

I have a problem trying to retrieve data from a looper within another looper.
The first looper provider is an ACF repeater field. No problem.
Then I have another looper, also an ACF repeater field in the first looper. No problem, but when I try to retrieve data from the first looper within that second one, using the syntax
it doesn’t work.
See the screenshot. What am I missing?
