I have a new Wordpress instance. I have X working, I upgraded to pro. I downloaded Pro and uploaded it manually via FTP to the right area and unpacked it. It it not showing up in themes on the dashboard.

You can try to download the installable zip file of Pro from your dashboard instead then install it in WP Admin > Appearance > Themes.
