Pro Theme Rocks

There, I said it. Pro is so much faster, easier and even more of a pleasure to use than X. And I love X.

I hesitated to upgrade, but this weekend, I took it for a test.

Demo it if you haven’t. It’s faster to work with and is just better.

Yeah, Pro is pretty great.

The only thing I’m worried about is that it’s too complicated for clients. I wish there was an option for a simplified interface (without all the flex box related stuff, etc.) for clients and the ability to lock certain parts of the builders, sections, rows and columns.

Glad you are enjoying your time with it @dkartuzinski!

@JvP, the idea behind Pro is for a more professional minded user (be it a creative professional building for a client or a diyer who wants to learn what it takes to build a highly custom site in WordPress). Trying to find a line that addresses both maximum customizability while being more “non techie” friendly ends up with something that sacrifices both groups needs because you’re trying to be all things to all people.

Having said that, we’re always exploring ways of improving the experience for both customer segments. It’s important to remember though that there are many different skill levels, preferences, and technical realities at play so there won’t be one magic pill for everyone.

Hey @kyle,

I know Pro is for the advanced user

I like using Pro and I’m getting better at it all the time and I wouldn’t want to miss its features and the flexibility it offers. Would it at all be a crazy idea to allow us to lock/hide certain parts of the builders for certain user roles/users? That way the builders won’t have to change, it’ll just have access controls. And we can simplify the interface for our clients hide the more complex stuff from them that they don’t need to worry about.

That starts getting into rare use cases, but I could see us exploring that down the road if there was more interest for a feature like that and assuming we could find a straightforward way to implement it.

Thanks for at least considering it

For some inspiration you could check out this.

In some cases it appears as though they have implemented a way to hide advanced sections as seen in the Section where there is an advanced checkbox in the setup controls. Although not user controlled, perhaps a good place to start?

I was thinking more of a wp-admin settings page where you can set permissions. The checkbox would still allow a user to show what was hidden.
