Pro theme Font Awesome Information/Conflict

I’m looking to get more information on the FontAwesome integration Pro 5.x/6.x offers.

  • What version(s) are in use/available?
  • Can it be overridden if using our own FontAwesome license?
  • Will it conflict if implementing our own FontAwesome license via the official FontAwesome plugin?
  • Does Pro integrate FontAwesome via the FA CDN or a Themeco/Pro FontAwesome Kit?

When viewing the troubleshooting section in the FontAwesome plugin settings, the following is listed:

Versions of Font Awesome Active on Your Site

Registered plugins and themes have opted to share information about the Font Awesome settings they are expecting, and are therefore easier to fix. For the unregistered plugins and themes , which are more unpredictable, we have provided options for you to block their Font Awesome source from loading and causing issues.

Registered themes or plugins

No active themes or plugins have requested preferences for Font Awesome.

Other themes or plugins

We haven’t detected any plugins or themes trying to load Font Awesome.

I’m not sure how the FontAwesome plugin detects unregistered themes, but Pro isn’t detected to be using FA and when I activate the official FA Plugin, I encounter issues loading Pro theme options. I didn’t test with editing a COrnerstone page, but there may be issues there as well. Seems to be a conflict.

Hey Kevin,

Included in Pro 6 is Font Awesome Pro version 5.15.1

No

No

Font Awesome Pro is included in the Pro folder that means it’s self-hosted or your web host is serving it.

We don’t have integration with the Font Awesome plugin so regretfully, we can’t support issues encountered using the plugin.

I’ll post your concern in our issue tracker though maybe the Font Awesome version will be updated in the future so you won’t have to use the Font Awesome plugin.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

There seems to be a conflict with Cornerstone when the FA plugin is active. When opening the theme options, both panes just show the loading spinner and hang. Disabling restores the expected behavior.

If I untick all the FA options in the Pro Theme options, does that disable the Pro Font Awesome from loading? If I then activate FA via the FA plugin, can Pro/Cornerstone icon functionality use the FA source loaded via the FA plugin?

The whole reason I had to look at a different FA option is to add the ability of my non-tech editors to add icons via the WordPress classic and Block editors. The FA plugin made this very easy.

Thanks

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for writing in! You can activate the FA plugin and then go to Cornerstone > Theme Options > Miscellaneous and disable the Font Awesome that is integrated in the theme.

Best Regards.
