Pro Pages reverting to http when Opening to Edit

I had posted this over here in the forum but too much time passed in the thread closed. :thinking: Been so busy. So here is the content again, and know that

So over on this PRO site the page is reverting to http from https when I open to edit. The site has been secure for over a year and this has been happening for the past couple of months. I thought my hosting guy who took the site from http to https would be able to fix it but he believes it is a theme issue. He has done everything he can think of and yes, the settings say https too. I did a quick video in the secure note for you to see what happens.
Please help, I need to edit a lot of pages :slight_smile:

Please also make sure to keep a backup of your database before doing the search and replace.

But we had done that a year ago along with all settings in wordpress etc.
That had already been done and did not resolve.
I only found this issue when I started needing to go into courses to edit the content.
I am including the dev site access in the secure note.
Note the site is tied to two factor authorization and you will need to use the access codes given.

The site is completely up to date and I am listing some direct link to courses this is happening in.
Please check those courses while editing in pro and see them change to http.

Hi Noelle,

I tried editing one of the sample courses and it did not revert to http thoug I can mixed content error.

As my colleague have instructed please install better search and replace plugin then do a search and replace.

I had said that has already been done. All search and replace in every way. And the screenshot you took does show the error to no lock. There has got to be an answer for this. :weary:

Hi Noelle,

I did a dry run of Better Search Replace on your beta site (which takes time) and found a lot of entries still under http:// (see screenshot below).

That means any method you (or your dev) used to replace the http:// entries on the database did not fully work. You might able to install the SSL successfully but the database was not updated.

We have suggested the Better Search Replace plugin to a lot of our users (with this kind of issue) and it works for them. I also done this few times myself, the trick is to do the Search and Replace twice with this pattern. just to play safe keep a backup of your database first.

replace http://www.myurl.com -> https://www.myurl.com
replace http:\/\/www.myurl.com -> https:\/\/www.myurl.com

Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating

And I found an entry of http://yoururl.com/jo-shop/ on your child theme’s functions.php file too, so you need to change those manually because those are not part of the database, check your wp-config.php file as well for any http:// entries.

Thank you, I will be giving all of this to our hosting team as they have run the search replace many, many times. Please leave this thread open though until I hear from him. And thank you, I know it takes a long time on that beta site because it is huge and slow hosting on it. :disappointed_relieved:
