Pro not saving changes / page contents gone

When editing a page, all of a sudden after saving in the Pro editor and checking the changes, the page is blank, like the information was wiped.

Inside the editor, all looks normal. Re-saving does not help.

Moving out to the dashboard , the editor is showing the “Text” tab, not “Pro”.
Clicking Pro tab shows this text:

“Hold up! The content has been modified outside of the content builder. Editing in the content builder will replace the current content. Do you wish to continue?”.

It seems the page is now corrupted, as if I go back to the Pro editor, there is no content.

If I load a template into the now-empty page and save, then go back to the dashboard, it’s like nothing happend, and the timing for last save has not updated.

This issue appears the first time after I’ve started translating a site using WPML, but not from the start - I was able to to translate one page before this beast woke up…

I’ve done the following:

  • Stopped security and caching features/plugins.
  • Rebooted the server.
  • Confirmed WP has ample of RAM.
  • Checked the all software is up-to-date.
  • I’ve tried many versions of “starting over” or just trying to edit other pages.

Hi Alexander,

I went to your website and checked the Danish version. The Swedish version seems to work ok.

I suggest that you test the cases below:

  1. Backup the website completely.
  2. Go to the WPML settings and temporarily change the URLs to sub-folders. Now you have a separate URL for the Danish language which I guess is the problem cause.
  3. Temporarily disable all the plugins except the WPML.
  4. Test the case with a new page. Add the page in Swedish. Then Click Denmark Flag icon while you are in the builder and already saved the Swedish version. There will be a prompt asking to add a new page for the Danish version or copy the existing one. Choose whatever suits your need.
  5. Follow the same path and see if it works.

I also suggest that you make sure that you select all the post types for the translation in the WPML settings. (The website is not in English and I am not sure which menu item is the settings for the WPML)

Hi!

It was found that the Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) Translation plugin for WPML was interferring with Pro.
I have not seen anything about this bug so maybe I was the first to find out about it.
Please check if you can re-create the issue on your end so that no one else gets into the same.
The plugin is not needed on our end.
