PRO Not allowing edits on existing Cornerstone posts

A website of mine is encountering an odd issue. Currently if they open up a page they created with Cornerstone in Pro, it shows the [CS] code but will not launch the pro tab. It will also not recognize it as Pro Content. Would really like to know what caused this as its a spreading issue.

Hello @EliteWebscapes,

Thanks for asking.

Please try out following solutions and let us know how it goes.

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list here. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. Click here for more information.
  2. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.
  3. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  4. Remove custom CSS and Javascript from the options or Child Theme and test the case.
  5. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.
  6. Increase the PHP Memory Limit of your server. Click here for more detailed information and how to increase the PHP memory limit.

If you still have problems kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Thank you.

  1. Everything is up to date
  2. Good to go. (CDN was disabled)
  3. Disabled All Plugs and the problem remained
  4. No JS, but CSS was removed and no difference
  5. Renamed and Saved. No go there
  6. Since we use WP-Engine, the PHP limit has never been an issue

I’m adding the login prefs as a secure note

I have re-enabled the plugs for the time being so our client can continue to do things if needed.

Hello @EliteWebscapes,

I have logged in and it seems that the post shown in the screenshot were edited outside of Cornerstone. Did you accidentally switch editors? Please be advise that you are not supposed to switch editor because it might corrupt editors data which might no longer allow you to edit the post in the Pro Editor. To resolve this, you will have to switch back to the Pro Editor tab, ignore the warning and see if you can still load it in the preview. If you are seeing a blank post in the preview, the editors data were corrupted already and you will no longer be able to edit it. You will have to recreate the post again.

Hope this helps.

We have only used cornerstone. Whats the root causing something like this to occur if there was no editor switched.

AS an added note. The user edits the page. Saves it. Then is locked out when they return according to our notes.

They have used a duplicate page plugin in the past to just copy the page.

Hello @EliteWebscapes,

Most probably, the duplicate plugin is causing the issue. Duplicating the page or by copying/pasting its contents will not work. You will have to save the page as a Pro template first and then import it as a template as well to maintain the editors data intact.

Please see “Working with templates” in this article: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/cornerstone-content-builder-layout/122/1
