Pro Google Analytics Plugin Not Tracking

I’ve seen many posts in the forum about Google Analytics, but none of them seemed to help me out. Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  1. Tried Monster Insights. I deactivated the Pro Google Analytics plugin to prevent conflicts, but Google Analytics would not pick up the code. I checked in the source code and the Google Analytics snippet was there. However, still not tracking.
  2. I removed all unnecessary plugins. I was hoping this would help me determine if one of the plugins was conflicting with Monster Insights, however that did not work.
  3. I Deleted Monster Insights and used the Pro Google Analytics plugin again. However, no luck.
  4. I installed a caching plugin, purged my cache, then deleted the caching plugin. I checked the source code and the snippet is there, but Google Analytics was not picking up the tracking code.
  5. I deleted the Pro Google Analytics plugin and installed the Insert Headers & Footers plugin referenced in this post: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/google-analytics-isnt-working/42665/20
I added the code, but Google Analytics is still not picking up the website, even though the code snippet is viewable in the source code.

At this point, I’m not really sure what else to do. I’ve deactivated every plugin on my site, retested Google Analytics, and still nothing. Can someone help me figure this out?

My website is www.mondaycall.com.

Hello @matt.federighi,

Thanks for asking.

It seems that you have removed the Google Analytics plugin and using Insert Headers and Footers plugin to add Google Analytics tracking code. Can you please confirm?

However, when using Pro Google Analytics plugin please make sure to just enter the Google Analytics id. There is no need to enter tracking code.

Thanks.

Hey @Prasant

Yes, I am using the Insert Headers and Footers plugin because one of your colleagues recommend it in another post. However, Google Analytics is still not picking up the code.

In regards to the Pro Google Analytics plugin, I tried that as well. I apologize if I was not clear in my first message, but I only inserted the Google Analytics ID and Google Analytics still was unable to recognize the code snippet.

In this post, it appears your colleague noticed that there was an issue with the Pro Google Analytics plugin, which is why they recommended the Insert Headers and Footers plugin.

That is still not working for me and I’m really hoping someone on your team can help me sort out this issue. I’m happy to move back to the Pro Google Analytics plugin, but it did not work for me (just like it has not been working for a lot of others in the support forum). https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/google-analytics-isnt-working/42665/20

Can you give me some guidance on how to resolve this so Google Analytics can track the traffic coming to our website? I was not having this issue until I switched over to the Pro theme, so I think it has something to do with the theme and not the actual Google Analytics snippet.

Hello There,

I have checked your site and I can see that the Google Analytics code is displayed in the front end.

Unless otherwise, there are missing piece of code, it should have work. Please go to your Analytics dashboard and double the code. Also check the steps in adding the code in your site to make sure that you inserted it in the right place correctly.
For more details, you may check it here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1008080?hl=en

Please let us know how it goes.

@RueNel

Thanks for the response. As I mentioned in my first message, I’ve gone through all of these steps. The Google Analytics tracking code is showing on the front end, I’ve placed it in the header (as Google recommends), yet the tracking code is still not being picked up by Google (the tracking code on the website right now is correct). I’ve tested every plugin for a conflict, cleared the cache, and Google still cannot read the tracking code.

It looks like your colleague @paul.r noticed that there was a problem with your Google Analytics plugin and recommended the Insert Headers & Footers plugin. However, that is still not working: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/google-analytics-isnt-working/42665/20

So, I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the Pro theme. I’m currently using the Insert Headers & Footers plugin on another Wordpress website for Google Analytics and the website is tracking being tracked by Google without issue.

Is there a known problem with the Pro Theme and Google Analytics? If so, how can we resolve that so I can get my website tracking properly?

I’m happy to use your Pro Google Analytics plugin again and show that the plugin does not work for me either. Let me know how you want to troubleshoot this. Thanks!

Hello There,

Pro Google Analytics plugin has not yet been updated. Our developers already have a fixed for it and an update release cycle will be available soon.

There is no known issue between Pro theme or X theme and The Google Analytics tracking code. X theme and Pro theme users has been able to successfully inserted GA code and tracks their sites without issues. Your site is different having this particular issue.

We always recommend Insert Headers and Footers if you are going to insert a script in the header or footer. The google tag code can be inserted in your site using this plugin. As long as the steps in inserting the Google Analytics code will be followed, then Google analytics tracking should work without issues.

On the other hand, if you have used “Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights” (https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/) and correctly set up, then Google Analytics tracking in your site should have work as well. This plugin is used by millions of WP sites and has been updated every now and then to work with Google Analytics tracking. If this plugin is not working working with your site, then there has to be an issue with your Google Analytics code or with the account which needs much attention.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response, but it still doesn’t help me. You mentioned that using these plugins “should work.” However, they are not working.

The Google Analytics snippet is correct on my website, however it’s still not tracking my website. Below is a snapshot of how I inserted the code into my website using the Insert Headers and Footers plugin.

Here is a snapshot of my Google Analytics Tracking code from the Google Analytics website:

As you can see, they are exactly the same. So, this is not an issue of me incorrectly placing the Google Analytics tracking code on the website.

The only plugin that would intuitively conflict with Google Analytics is Wordfence Security. However, I’ve already attempted to deactivate that plugin and Google Analytics still does not pick up the website. Is there something your team can do to help me solve this issue? You’ve done a good job at explaining the potential issues, but none of them appear to be the problem in my case. So, I’m really at a loss on what to do next.

Hi,

I checked your site source code and can see the code being added which means that the plugin works.

However I can also see that there is a js error that could be preventing it from working.

Please remove the js code in Conerstone > JS of your homepage and see if that fixes the issue.

You can also add that in Scripts in Header together with your analytics code.

Thanks

Thanks @paul.r.

I removed that JS line and it still didn’t work. I ended up creating a brand new Google Analytics account, pasting that snippet in the Insert Headers & Footers plugin, and now Google is tracking our website. The initial Google Analytics account must have had a configuration problem, so I will look into that and attempt to figure it out.

Thanks for helping me troubleshoot!

Hey There,

You are most welcome. We are glad that you have figured it out a way to correct the said issue.
We really appreciate for letting us know!

Best Regards.

I wanted to comment here because I was running into issues with this, until I realized that the Google Analytics code is only visible when you are logged out of the website.

You should probably state this somewhere on the plugin, as it makes no sense.

Hello @michigancreative,

I checked the in my local setup and can see that the Analytics related code is visible when user is not logged in. I have reported this into our issue tracker for our developers to take a look. I am not in a position to share ETA for the update on this, but for latest announcements you can keep an eye on our changelog page.

Thanks.
