Pro excerpt length not updating after changing blog customizer settings

HI. Changing the excerpt length under customizer --> blog --> excerpt seems to have no effect on my site.

Can you help? Settings below

This is not a known issue.

Can you try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Just breaking in with small comment: it is advised by Staff not to use Customizer anymore and instead use Theme Options. That is all very well but little nuggets like setting the excerpt length are absent in Theme Options. Perhaps an idea to at least make sure all functionality from Customizer is also present in Theme Options before advising everyone to use the latter.

Hi there,

It’s a bug, the excerpt length is supposed to be active when Full post content is turned off. For now, you should control your post excerpt length by adding this code to your child theme’s functions.php

  function x_excerpt_length_override( $length ) {

    return 80;

  }
  add_filter( 'excerpt_length', 'x_excerpt_length_override' );

Rad, any updates on this? After switching to pro, my blog posts just show headline only. And I’m a newbie at this stuff, I don’t have a child theme setup to put this in? Any advice on how to get post excerpts up?

This has been fixed in the latest version of the theme and Cornerstone. But the case you are talking about seems not to be related to this case.

Kindly open up a separate thread and give us detailed information there and we will follow up.
