Pro editor freezes when trying to save changes

Hello,

I’m having a major issue with my site. On any of my pages, if I use the pro editor to go in and edit content on my page I can sometime save if I make changes quickly and hit save quickly. If I continue to edit content and make changes and go to save my work, the green progress bar will go almost all the way across and then it hangs. If I try to leave the page and go back to the dashboard, I end up getting logged out of the back end of my site and get an error (screen shot attached).

This started happening over the last couple of months. I hadn’t made any major changes to my site. This was happening before and after I upgraded to wordpress 5. I did switch hosting providers and I did have them migrate my site over from my previous hosting provider (this was back in Oct/Nov). I didn’t have these issues at first, but then they started happening more frequently and now they happen consistently, to the point where I can’t edit and use my site.

I’ve tried checking for plugin conflicts by deactivating and then activating one at a time - I haven’t found an issue so far that way. I’ve also had my hosting provider check into everything on their end and we’ve run a bunch of tests and they can’t reproduce the situation when they login and try to edit the site. We’ve run traceroutes on my connection to the server and nothing has come up with those results either.

Do you have any ideas on what can be causing this? Could I have issues with my database? Could there have been an issue caused during migration? Could there be a plugin conflict I’m not aware of?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Hello @davidgaiz,

Thanks for writing in!

Please ensure that your server have meet the requirements to run the latest WordPress. You’ll need to have at least PHP 7.2. For more details about the requirements, please check this out: https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

And in your dashboard, you can check your server details in Dashboard > WP-ServerInfo.

And also make sure that you increase the PHP time limit to at least 300s, Max Post size and the Max Upload size to 128MB and lastly, the PHP memory limit might need to be 512MB.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Hi @RueNel,

Thanks for your help! I was able to get my hosting company to adjust a few settings and after testing things for a few days it seems like it’s working now.

Appreciate the help!

Dave
