Pro Cornerstone with WPML - different languages go to the same page to edit

Dear Support,

I am using Pro Cornerstone and WPML. I have created 2 pages in different languages. However, when I edit either page by cornerstone it always give me back the Chinese version ( I have both English and Chinese ). I have already set language code as path name in WPML but still get the same result. Could you please take a look to see what’s wrong?

Also, when I do the translation, it shows the short code as well but not only the content text. I will include the login and screen shoot in the Secure Note.

Cheers,
Ken

Hi Ken,

The admin URL is not working. It says page not found. I also tried the normal login URL wp-admin and wp-login.php but it is not working either.

There’s also a conflict in builder URL and WPML permalink. For now, please switch your language permalink format to sub-folder format (eg. example.com/en/) instead of ?lang=en format. Then to launch the builder in its specific language you can manually enter the URL as example.com/en/x/. I am not sure if you have done this already based on your reply because I can’t login on your site.

Hi Lely,

Thanks for the checking. Sorry that I changed a setting on WPML last night so the admin path was not correct. I have changed it back and you can access now.

Yes if I add /en/ to the path I can access the English page now but I just wonder if there is any setting can prevent me to do this everytime as it is quite time consuming for the editor.

My website has 2 languages. For a page
Chinese version is www.example.com/page1
English version is www.example.com/en/page1

In the pages when I call the Cornerstone at English version the path doesn’t have /en/ so even if the page id is different and it points to the Chinese language.

https://www.example.com/x/#/content/418 ( English )
https://www.example.com/x/#/content/421 ( Chinese )

and I need to manually add en/ to the first link in order to edit the English version.
https://www.example.com/en/x/#/content/418 ( English )

I have already switch the permalink format to sub-folder format but still the same. I hope you can login again to see if there is any setting needs to be changed to fix it.

Really Thanks,
Ken

Would you mind switching the admin or backend to english so we could understand the navigation?

Thanks.

Hi Xian,

I changed the default language of WPML to English. Hope this help. You can use the page ‘test wpml 20170808’ to test.

Ken

Hi Ken,

Thank you. I am able to check your setup. Unfortunately, like my previous reply, this is a known conflict between the builder URL and WPML permalink. The builder is unable to add the language on the URL thus a workaround for now is adding it manually like what you are doing at the moment. This issue is forwarded already to our developer for investigation. As of the moment, we have to use the workaround.

Is there a solution for this yet?

Hi there,

The login credentials are no longer valid, please provide the latest one. I like to test it too and gather some information.

Thanks!

I tend to open my multi language pages from the wp-admin environment, then pages.
From there I choose “edit with pro” for the post/page/language I select.
From the Cornerstone menu, only the main language pages can be opened I think.
But I use Polylan, which might be different.

Please try the latest version of Pro. We made some changes in 1.2.0 allowing the edit URLs to route to the correct languages.
