Hello Greg,
Thanks for writing in! We have tested the updates before we have released it into the manual and automatic updates. We have gone a series of beta testing which involves several X and Pro users. In fact, we do have a separate Beta Support Forum. After beta, we also have a release candidate versions to make sure that everything works well in most installations.
We always suggest that before doing any updates, a staging area must be created by cloning the live site. All the updates must be done in the staging area first to make sure that there aren’t any issues and conflicts happening thus preventing any downtime of the live site. Issues and conflicts may occur with the following reasons:
- Out dated WordPress core
- Using PHP version 7.3 or below
- Out dated plugins
- Conflict with other plugins
- Custom coding added in the child theme
- Custom CSS/JS added in the Theme Options
And this is why a staging area is highly recommended because all of those thing can be check, troubleshoot and resolve without affecting downtime of the main site or live site. If you haven’t tried created a staging site, you can check out the simple steps given in this article:
Best Regards.
